Gun Safety

Republican Knute Buehler is frantically trying to rebrand himself as a moderate on gun safety issues, but his voting record as a legislator has earned him two “A ratings” from the NRA.

He voted no on universal background checks.

He voted no on requiring a 10-day waiting period to purchase firearms if the Oregon State Police are unable to complete a background check (closing the “Charleston Loophole”).

He voted no on the “extreme risk protection law” which enables courts to temporarily prohibit a person from having guns if law enforcement or family members show that someone is a serious danger to themself or others.

He said he does not support banning the sale of semi-automatic assault weapons.

Buehler has also given money to the NRA and received thousands of dollars from an NRA board member. [ORESTAR contributor search: Nosler, accessed 4/11/18]
